Shop Talk: Chef Ricardo Fernandez

For years, chef Ricardo Fernandez and his wife Suzanne have been immersed in the world of food and wine, whether through their import/export wine business in Miami or farm-to-table Lomo Grill in downtown Waynesville, which operated from 1995 to 2010. Through private party catering, culinary tours, and cooking classes, they are excited to continue to share their passions and knowledge with others.

After the program’s success last November, Ricardo and Suzanne will host the 2016 Wine & Food Tour, a culinary tour to Buenos Aires and the wine country of Mendoza in Argentina from October 19–28. “See the beauty of the city and experience some fabulous cuisine with great wines,” says Suzanne. Ricardo is a native of Buenos Aires. The itinerary also includes time for sightseeing, shopping, and a tango show.

Mountain Cooking Club Cooking classes take place at Fines Creek Community Kitchen. In the spring, they move to Wildcat Ridge Farm, which Ricardo and Suzanne operate in Haywood County’s Crabtree. Upcoming classes run from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, and Saturday, March 5.
